Let it Snow!

We woke up to four inches of snow today! It was so beautiful! I had a special appreciation for the snow today since we never had snow days in Dallas. I can't wait to build snowmen and go sledding with EJ in the future. It will be lots of fun. As you can see, Forsberg enjoyed the snow too!

Ali Visits

We enjoyed a weekend with my friend, Ali, who I met as a freshman at Colorado State back in 1991. A mom of three, she gave me ideas on how to get E.J. sleeping through the night now that his weight is back on track...what a gift!

EJ is 3 months!

It's hard to believe EJ is now three months old!! He is so precious and he is slowly gaining weight. We are thankful to have found some answers. The whole feeding tube thing is hard but we are seeing results so I will stick with it until he is caught up. Here are some photos from the weekend.

Weight update

My relief for EJ's weight gain was short lived. He hasn't gained any weight in the last week. When I went to weigh him today at Milkworks (a non-profit breastfeeding center here in Lincoln) and I saw the same weight as last week I felt so defeated because I am trying so hard to plump him up. I went to the front desk to ask for an appointment with a lactation consultant since the ones at the pediatrician's office haven't been helpful. Fortunately, the doctor on staff had a cancellation so she was able to see me right away. We spent two hours together and I learned a lot.

EJ is having a hard time sucking due to a slight "tie" underneath his tongue, which decreases the mobility of the tongue. Why none of his other doctors have looked for this is beyond me. The new plan is to use a feeding tube in his mouth while I am feeding him so that he gets more milk encouraging to suck more and eventually he will be back to where he should be and therefore gain weight. It's a complicated process but he did respond well to it at the clinic. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

If you are curious about Milkworks you can check them out at http://www.milkworks.org/. It's a great place for new moms!!

Hawks Field at Haymarket Park is the baseball field where Eric's team plays here in Nebraska. They earned a national honor on Friday, as the field was selected as Baseball Field of the Year. It is a beautiful park and they even have a playground where E.J. will spend a lot time in the coming years. We hope you can come catch a game in 08.
