Summer Fun!

Summer has arrived here in Nebraska! EJ and his buddy, Will, got to enjoy one of the first hot days with some fun in the sun. Will brought over the Buzz Lightyear Rocketship. It was awesome! One person puts the rocketship on the base and the other controls the water pressure to launch it. It can fly really high and everyone can get really wet!

The boys found the baby pool but once we got it clean and filled up they decided they weren't "babies" anymore. Guess we will be getting the rainbow pool out from storage soon. I also think we are old enough for a slip-n-slide so I'll have to track one of those down too.

Texas Trip

We missed the spring bluebonnets this year but we had some family fun in College Station this weekend. We saw Grandma Carol, Nicole and the 2 Uncle Brians. A big thank you to Nicole and Brian for hosting us at their place on Sunday night!

Brian made a visit and got lots of time playing EJ's favorite game, "pillow in the face." Thankfully, he was a willing participant.

Even though College Station is a small town, we found fun wherever we went. Here's EJ at his Nascar time trial (aka the mall).

The town of Bryan had a great Children's Museum with this darling train out front. EJ met some boys during his time there and had a great time playing.

Time with Eric was limited but they did catch some cuddle time on the porch in front of the hotel.

Spring in Lincoln

The Lincoln Zoo has a new exhibit: Penguins! EJ and I had a fun outing to the zoo seeing all of our old friends (the goats) and making new friends (the penguins). I noticed how much EJ has grown as his observations have really advanced since last year.

We had another fun train ride. EJ wanted to sit in the caboose this year!

I saw these "Husker" tulips and had to get some pictures. They were so beautiful.
We happened to be on our way to a baseball game so EJ matched the lovely colors.

EJ isn't as fearful of the players this year as he has been in past years. He likes playing catch with them and they like entertaining him. It's a nice combination.

Tux Time!

I took the guys to get fitted for their tuxes tonight for Andy & Kellie's wedding.
EJ was adorable as he did exactly what the fitter asked him to do. Anyone who knows a preschooler can appreciate how rarely that happens! Here's how it went down:

EJ was very excited when he heard he was going to match Uncle Andy.

Poor Daddy...

The shoe fits!

Royal Wedding

While we didn't get up to watch the royal nuptials live, we did have fun watching the wedding this morning when we got up. When I told EJ about the kiss, he looked and said, "Yuck!"

EJ and I had a fun Easter weekend in Denver. On Saturday we decorated Easter Eggs with Grandma Bobbie and Grandpa John.

EJ was really into his project. He knew exactly what to do and even signed his name on all the eggs he decorated.

Here's the final product! Notice how many blue ones. It was EJ's color of choice this year!

On Sunday, we celebrated with Easter baskets, Egg hunts and a nice meal at Cherry Creek Grill, my favorite! EJ really understood the egg hunt concept this year and even wanted a turn "hiding" the eggs.

Here's EJ making funny faces on the car ride to dinner.

Here we are at dinner. EJ had salmon, roast beef and mashed potatoes! A nice break from mac & cheese!

We hope you had a great holiday with your loved ones!

Easter Basket Cupcakes

EJ and I came across a picture of Easter basket cupcakes that we loved so we recreated them for preschool today. While not as professional looking as a bakery might accomplish, they were a hit with EJ's class!

EJ loves being snack helper. He was so proud of his snack today!

Weekend Fun

We had a fun weekend with Uncle Andy and the Sorenson Family. Andy came through town on a recruiting trip and the Sorenson's were here for a weekend visit. Andy finally got to play with the basketball hoop he and Kellie got EJ for Christmas.

We went to baseball games and the kids had a blast. They loved playing on the field with Eric after the game.

EJ had a Little Lamb

EJ has a special little lamb. I bought it two months before he was born because it was so sweet. Over the past year EJ has really attached to it. He sleeps with it so when we went on a road trip with Eric last week, "Lamby" came along. Unfortunately, Lamby was dropped in the hallway at the hotel when we were leaving and I didn't notice.

The next day I called the hotel and the head of housekeeping said that one of the housekeepers rescued the lamb from a rugby team who had checked into the hotel and used him as a pull toy in the hallway. She went on to tell me that another housekeeper had already taken Lamby home to mend him because she knew that he was special to a little child and the mom would be calling. Sure enough, she was right. Once he was good as new, they FedExed Lamby back to us. EJ knew that Lamby was flying home to us in a white box. He was ecstatic when the box arrived.

It was a sweet reunion and Lamby has his rightful place back by EJ side at bedtime.
