Mike does not allow the baseball players to wear their hats backwards. It's a funny pet peave of his. He says, "The direction of your hates dictates the direction of your life." Since he is SO adamant about this we decided to take EJ to the team party "thugged" out. We put his Husker hat (a gift from Mike and his family) on backwards and I put all the gold jewelry I could find on him. He was also wearing a velour Adidas sweatsuit so he really looked like a rapper. When Mike saw him he really went nuts and the players loved it. The all-around favorite was the rhinestone peace sign necklace! EJ is the only one who could get away with that get-up in Mike's house!

SIX MONTHS!
EJ is six months old today! He started eating pears which was a big hit. He also has one tooth and he is a week or so away from being mobile. He will get on all fours and rock but isn't crawling yet.
We are still unpacking boxes from our move and everytime we get an empty one EJ gets a kick out of it! His other favorite activity is jumping in his jumper. He laughs and laughs and gets a great workout.

A New Nursery
EJ never got to see the nursery I had for him in Dallas so it's been fun to make a special place for him here. After losing the crib hardware twice we finally got his crib put together and Grandma Carol gave him a beautiful dresser. Here he is in his crib for the first night in his own room.
I am so happy we are not be sharing a room with him anymore. He is only waking up once a night now. He should be sleeping through the night so we are working hard to get there. I will get more pictures posted once I can see more than just boxes!
Moving!
We were so blessed to have several of Eric's players, my parents and Uncle Andy help us move into our new house. Here are a couple shots of the players, Eric and Andy as we finished up and had chili. Thankfully, the weather was in the 40's so it was a perfect moving day. Now, my Mom is making window treatments and my Dad is changing out light fixtures and hanging pictures for me. I am having fun seeing all the clothes I had in storage that I haven't worn since before I was pregnant. It's like getting new clothes!

Baseball 101
Today was Baseball 101, a fundraiser for City Impact, an inner-city ministry here in Lincoln. Over 100 women came to learn the fundamentals of baseball from the coaches and players of Nebraska Baseball. The day included a nice lunch overlooking Memorial Football Stadium and some very fun whiffle ball games to employ all the skills we learned. It was a fun day for a great cause. In the pictures above EJ is having fun with Eric and Head Coach, Mike Anderson.

FIVE Months!!!
Hi Everyone! EJ is 5 months old now. I swear he grows and changes every day and he is more interactive than ever. His favorite activity right now is screeching at the top of his lungs. That's fun at 6:00 am when he gets us up (read: sarcasm!). Thankfully, our neighbor is 101 years old and practically deaf. She says that she can't hear him and I believe her! :-)
Speaking of neighbors, we will be getting new ones as we bought a house here in Lincoln. I am really looking forward to getting settled and getting everything out of storage. I haven't seen our "stuff" in six months! I'll put pictures up just as soon as I can. Lord willing, we will close and get the keys on Friday.
As the new year began, I reflected on 2007 and I just want to say thanks to all of you who were so generous to us last year. So many of you prayed for my pregnancy and for little E.J. every step of the way. I am truly grateful for that. When I was put on bedrest last summer I had so many meals graciously brought to our home and continued prayer from around the country. All of the baby showers and gifts were wonderful and I truly think of each person who blessed us when I use the gifts. It was such a sweet time in my life and I will forever be thankful for the love and generosity of all my friends and family. Now I just wish you were here in Lincoln with me to babysit!! ;-)
Much love, Melissa
