Texas

We won the first game of our series against Texas. We actually we did more than win...we beat the crap out of them!! Final score 14-4! Yay Huskers!

E.J. and I went to the game with Grandma Carol and Grandpa Michael and Auntie Nicole (Michael's daughter) who are all pictured above.

Yesterday we saw Uncle Brian. They had lots of fun playing together and EJ loves Brian's sunglasses!

There was a great article about Eric in the Omaha paper today. EJ and I got a mention too! You can read it by cutting and pasting this link into your Internet browser:

Let's hope we have a great weekend playing Texas!

Easter

Happy Easter Everyone!!! What a special day to celebrate Jesus...who is alive!! I wish our day could've been more focused on the resurrection of Jesus but our day started at 6:30 this morning with Forsberg having an epileptic seizure. He came through it but had another one shortly after which makes it a grand mal seizure and becomes life threatening. We were just about to make a visit to the emergency vet but fortunately he came out of it and is doing OK.

Later today, Eric's game ended in a tie in the 10th inning because of the Big 12 Conference travel rules so they didn't quite sweep the less-than-respectable (in my opinion) Sooners. The Huskers are now 17-3-1.

The picture above is EJ's Easter picture. He is 7 months old now and doing great. He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight, so in other words, he is huge!! He had a great time with Grandma Carol, Uncle Andy and Kellie while they were in town over the past few days.

We hope that you had a great Easter and may you seek the Lord in all your endeavors.

Oklahoma Series

It's been super fun having family in town. Andy's girlfriend, Kellie, got to spend a few days with us as she was in town for the tournament. Andy stayed in the area after the game to recruit so he was able to catch a couple of FREEZING innings of today's game against Oklahoma. So far we are 2-0 in the series and we are hoping for a sweep tomorrow. I also made Andy, Eric and Carol color Easter eggs tonight. It's the first time they had done it since the guys were young!

NCAA Tournament

We are so proud of Uncle Andy and his basketball team. We had a great time!! The final score was 71-56 but it was a great game.

EJ got to go on the floor with Andy at the end of practice and then you see us at dinner with Andy and Kellie the night before the game.

Grandma Carol got in a couple hours before the game and you see her and EJ right before tip-off at the Quest Center.

The top picture is Andy in action during the game on Thursday night.

There was a great article in the Omaha paper about Eric and Andy. You can read it here:

Another Husker SWEEP!

Today the Huskers completed a three-game sweep of Kansas State! It's the Huskers’ first Big 12 road sweep since 2006 and equaled Nebraska’s longest win streak in the last eight seasons. Our record is 14-2 and 3-0 in the Big 12. This week we play Arkansas and Oklahoma.

We also found out today that Andy's team IS playing in Omaha this week! YAY!!! His game is on Thursday against Wisconsin. We are so excited to go to the game and we hope EJ brings his uncle's team good luck!

Keep your fingers crossed for the Huskers and the Titans! It's a big week for sports in the Newman family.

Goin' to THE BIG DANCE!!

Congrats to Uncle Andy whose Cal State Fullerton basketball team WON the Big West Conference tonight! They are on their way to the NCAA Tournament!!! They earned this championship and they deserve it! It's been 30 years since their team has been to the tournament. We're hoping the selection committee sends them to Omaha so we can see them play next week! You can read more about them at http://fullertontitans.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/csfu-m-baskbl-body.html

Congrats and Good Luck to the Titans!!!

Another Sweep!

Nebraska Baseball swept Northern Colorado in 4 games over the past few days. Once again the pitchers performed wonderfully with today's winner pitching a complete-game five hit shut out. They play South Dakota State tomorrow and then conference play begins this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for the Huskers!

Are you Gonna Eat That???

Forsberg has a new best friend! Now that he is eating "real" food Forsberg has started giving EJ the time of day! He patiently sits by the highchair and bats his eyes. EJ is already keen on Forsberg and is more than willing to share. It makes for an entertaining event for all.

Bath Time

EJ graduated from the infant tub and now he has a larger-than-life duck for bath time. He is starting to love the water and his toys. As you can see, his favorite activity is chomping on his washcloth!

GO BIG RED!!

The Huskers swept their double header yesterday! The pitching staff has been amazing with excellent starters and the bullpen throwing 5.5 shutout innings in the second game. One of the freshmen, Ben Kline is hitting .600 and the catcher has hit 3 homeruns already this season.

There were 5,572 fans at the game yesterday! It was a warm, sunny day in Lincoln...perfect day for baseball. You can read more about the game at http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2008/03/02/huskerextra/baseball/doc47c9d2a34026f085928135.txt.

It's too cold to take E.J. to today's game so I am listening on the radio and I just heard them interview Eric on the pitching. He's been on the radio several times this week which is a new experience for us!

Let's hope the season continues to be bright!
